Type Locality and Naming

The type section is section is located at Baomo Mt. 2 km to the east of the Longyin Country, Pu’an County, Guizhou Province. It was named by Wu Wangshi et al., in 1979.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Mainly interbedded grey medium- and thick-bedded dolomitized biomicrite, bioclastic limestone, grey-black carbonaceous clayey limestone, together with grey and yellow-brown siltstone, shale and fine-grained and coarse-grained quartz-sandstone. Thickness of 433 m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Clayey limestone


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Longyin Fm.

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Liangshan Fm.

Regional extent

Distributed in the Shuicheng, Panxian, Pu’an and Qinglong areas of the western part of Guizhou Province. From the naming locality northerly to the Longling Ridge of Pu’an County the quartz-sandstone is increasing in amount, with its thickness reaching 600 m, and till the Liuzhi, Panxian and Shancheng areas it is being replaced by the Liangshan Fm; westerly and southerly limestones are increasing in amount and are gradually grading into the Sazhi Fm.

Fossils

Fusulinida represented by Pseudofusulina kraffti, Schwagerina guembeli, Pamirina sp., Minojapanella wutuensis, etc. known as the Robusto-Schwagerina schellwieni zone.

Corals: Its Lower part yields corals of the Verbeekiella cylindrical-Falconophyllum cylindricum assemblage, and its upper part yields corals known as the Kepingophyllum irregulare zone.
